Track 6Angel of Mercy

5:30 pm. Fittingly following your mimosa, the day begins to cool off. The breeze still feels amazing, and now you’re craving a good burger or maybe some nachos. Theres a nice open air restaurant walk by, and a band inside seems to be playing some jimmy buffet. You’re not in Margaritaville itself, but home is wherever you make it.

So you sit down at a table overlooking the bay. An old wooden fan creaks above, and wow the breeze coming in from the bay just feels amazing. Some of the sailboats you saw going out that morning are returning from a long day on the water. You can hear the chatter of conversations around you, and maybe you have a friend to talk to. Or maybe not; It’s a great day regardless. Some dude a few tables away apparently says something funny because all of his friends are absolutely howling.

This song just feels so content and easy. Knopfler brings in a blues-style backing chorus for some bits, so this song almost feels like a country blues song. If you told me that this was an Eagles song, I’d believe you. Its got that peaceful easy feeling to it.

The drums here are much more toned down, and sadly I don’t think Pick Withers is using his homemade sand shaker. That’s fine though, because its perfect the way it is. Knopfler uses a more country sounding guitar with a slightly different tone to it, but it fits amazingly. Its very easy to tell that this is the point where the day and album start relaxing again,
